4 closed Metro stations in Baner, Balewadi disappoint residents

Pune: People from Baner and Balewadi expressed disappointment over closed stations in their area on the first day of public operations of Metro Pink Line on Wednesday.Four stations in Baner and Balewadi remained shut though the operations started on the 23km elevated Metro corridor. The closed stations are Baner Gaon, Baner-Pashan Link Road, Balewadi Phata and Balewadi High Street.Commuters said Baner and Balewadi had a significant number of commuters travelling towards Hinjewadi and Civil Court. Passengers from these areas boarded Metro trains from Aundh, RK Laxman Museum Balewadi and MITCON Balewadi stations on Wednesday.A total of six stations out of 23 on the new stretch are still not functional. The other two stations shut are Shivajinagar and Bhosalenagar-RBI, both on University Road.
