‘Jain Aloo Pyaaz Parantha’? Swiggy menu leaves the internet wondering what will actually be delivered

Swiggy menu leaves the internet wondering what will actually be delivered

A food delivery menu has sparked an unexpected discussion online after one of its customization choices left a customer wondering what would actually arrive at the doorstep. The menu featured Aloo Pyaaz Ka Parantha with options including Jain, Less Spicy, Swaminarayan, and More Spicy. Pratik Panda shared a screenshot of the listing and raised the question that caught people’s attention:“Genuinely curious as to what will be delivered if I select this option while ordering from Swiggy.”The comments that followed ranged from possible ingredient substitutions to personal experiences and jokes about the order.

Why the Jain option raised questions

Jain food follows specific dietary practices. It is generally vegetarian and commonly avoids onion and garlic. Stricter practices also exclude potatoes and other root vegetables. The reason for avoiding root vegetables is linked to their harvesting, as the entire plant is uprooted from the soil, and this may disturb small organisms in the ground. This explains why the customization drew attention when it appeared alongside a dish associated with potato and onion.

Users suggest possible alternatives

Some commenters tried to answer the question by suggesting what could be used instead. One user shared an experience from a restaurant, writing, “Apparently it’s a spectrum. One time while dining out, I had requested Jain food, and the waiter asked if Jain chicken was suitable.”Another suggested a possible version using different ingredients: “Instead of aloo, they use raw bananas, and for the sulphury onion replacement they use cabbage. That’s how you make Jain aloo pyaaz paratha.”A separate comment said, “The times we are living in, anything will do as long as it is hygienic and unadulterated.”Others kept their reactions brief. “One single chapati,” one individual joked.Another user wrote, “Banana will be used instead of aloo and no onion.”

What users said about Swaminarayan

The Swaminarayan option also prompted a question in the comments. One user asked, “What’s up with Swaminarayan?”Another person responded, “Swaminarayan don’t eat onion, lehsun they eat potato but jain don’t eat anything grown inside soil.”Disclaimer: This article is based on a social media post and comments shared online.
