13.3L cases flagged for hearings in Pune dist, 62L electors on draft roll, 28.6L out

Pune: The draft electoral roll for Pune district’s 21 assembly constituencies, published on Monday under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), has flagged 13,32,418 cases for hearings. These include 5,77,821 electors with discrepancies in their details and 7,54,597 whose names could not be mapped to the 2002 electoral roll.Notices will be issued to these voters after two days and hearings will be held from Sept 7 at locations decided by electoral registration officers. All such electors will be contacted by booth-level officers and will have to provide documents as listed by Election Commission of India, poll officials said.Officials said 21 electoral registration officers and 639 assistant electoral registration officers will conduct hearings in cases flagged during the revision.No name can be deleted from the draft roll without a notice and an inquiry. The voter will be given a fair chance to present their case. A decision on the inclusion of their names in the final electoral roll will be made after the hearings, they added.The draft roll now has 62,13,692 electors, 28.66 lakh fewer than the 90,80,173 electors on the pre-SIR roll. The enumeration forms for these 28.66 lakh electors, classified as uncollectable, have not been included in the draft roll. There are 31,51,297 men, 30,62,012 women and 383 third-gender electors in the draft roll.The 28,66,481 uncollectable enumeration forms under the absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and others category comprise 17,83,058 absent/not found, 5,91,038 shifted, 3,12,048 deceased, 1,43,975 duplicate and 36,362 others.Prepared with Oct 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, the draft roll was published in the presence of district collector Jitendra Dudi, deputy district election officer Minal Kalaskar, tehsildar Sheetal Mule and representatives of recognised political parties. Dudi said, “Voters must check their names and fill up the necessary forms if they are not there.’’The draft roll is available at the offices of the respective EROs, the district collector’s office and the offices of district presidents of recognised political parties. It can also be accessed through the Pune district administration website, ECINET and the Voter Service Portal.567 polling stations in Bhor, the highestJunnar has 356, Ambegaon 344, Khed Alandi 393, Shirur 459, Daund 315, Indapur 339, Baramati 388, Purandar 413, Bhor 567, Maval 402, Chinchwad 560, Pimpri 397, Bhosari 491, Wadgaon Sheri 438, Shivajinagar 266, Kothrud 387, Khadakwasla 502, Parvati 344, Hadapsar 525, Pune Cantonment 270 and Kasba Peth 268. The number of polling stations has increased by seven to 8,424 following rationalisation.
