Congress’s Maharashtra in-charge Sirivella Prasad

Pune: Congress has directed its Maharashtra unit to intensify agitations across every district in the state as part of its ongoing campaign demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) row.INDIA bloc members marched to Supreme Court on Monday, with several senior opposition leaders participating in the demonstration. Acting on a directive from All India Congress Committee (AICC), Congress MPs, MLAs, and several district chiefs from Maharashtra travelled to New Delhi to join the protest. During their visit to the national capital, the state leaders were instructed to scale up the agitation back home in Maharashtra, where the controversial SIR exercise is currently underway.Speaking to TOI, Sirivella Prasad, the Congress’s Maharashtra in-charge, said, “While the SIR process is still on, we plan to gather detailed feedback regarding the exercise from the 62,000 booth level agents (BLAs) appointed by the party across the state. Using the discrepancies highlighted in the SIR process, we will conduct meetings at the block level to bring the issue directly to the public and mobilise their support.”Congress plans to escalate its pressure on the Centre over the SIR dispute. The opposition has chalked out a nationwide strategy to carry out protest rallies, extending from New Delhi down to every tehsil. Local administrative units have been instructed to hold coordinated protests in various parts of the state throughout Oct.Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Harshwardhan Sapkal said, “Congress has exposed an unholy nexus between Gyanesh Kumar and BJP. Our party will take this issue to every single district in the state. The common people have realised how the system is being misused by the ruling party, and we will continue to raise our voice until justice is served.”
