Pune: Two men allegedly assaulted the driver of an MSRTC bus and smashed the windscreen of the bus in Chakan on the Chakan-Taleagon Road while the bus was moving towards Mumbai on Sunday. The police have arrested one of the two accused.Chakan North police registered a case against the duo under sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty), 121 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter a public servant from his duty) and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The 47-year-old bus driver lodged a complaint with the police.An officer from Chakan North police said that on Sunday afternoon, the complainant was driving the bus towards Mumbai. “While plying on the Chakan-Talegaon Road, a four-wheeler blocked his way. Two men from the vehicle got out and started abusing the complainant for honking. The driver of the four-wheeler, who was carrying an iron rod, assaulted the complainant. He also smashed the bus windscreen and window panes.”The other accused abused the female bus conductor and threatened to beat her. “The accused are from a neighbouring village. We have caught one of the accused and he is remanded for three days. The search is on for the second individual,” the officer added.
