Helicopter with 4 on board makes emergency landing near lake in Maharashtra

GONDIA: A helicopter carrying four persons made an emergency landing near a lake in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district on Sunday after poor weather conditions affected visibility, officials said.No one was injured in the incident, which took place near Mohgaon-Nilaj Road in Mohadi tehsil.“A chopper belonging to a private company was on its way from Nagpur to Raipur when the pilot encountered inclement weather conditions around 11 am,” an official said.The helicopter reportedly hovered over Bhisari lake for some time before making an emergency landing in an open area nearby.Officials said the pilot chose the location because the lake’s water level was low, leaving sufficient open space for a safe landing.After remaining at the site for nearly an hour, the helicopter took off and returned to Nagpur once weather conditions improved.“Four persons were travelling on the chopper, and all of them are safe,” said District Disaster Management Officer Abhishek Naamdas.According to Girishchandra Verma, airport director of Birsi Airport in Gondia, he was informed that the pilot intended to land at the airport but later decided to return to Nagpur instead.(With Agency Inputs)
